Today’s blog love post is dedicated to bloggers who spread the word about awesome music.
I’m starting this tradition to acknowledge and link people who love music so much, they blog about it. These are the people who help us discover great bands. I hope it’ll help to feature great music blogs from all over the world and artists all across genres.
Once accepted, the award process has five steps:
Q1: What does music mean to you?
I can’t live without music. I mean, physically of course it’s possible but my fragile mind quickly descends to darkness without music.
Q2: What is your first music-related memory?
I must’ve been 5. Living in a small village, I was allowed to come home alone from pre-school in the last year. It was exciting and I was so ecstatic, I sang along all the way, all the whole 5 minutes it took me to cover that distance lol. And when I got home my mum was singing the same song because she secretly followed me… Mums, eh? They never stop worrying about you.
Not much later but totally unrelated to me, the musical genius that is Freddie Mercury, sang that same song in Budapest.
Q3: What was the first album you’ve purchased yourself?
I grew up in Hungary and it was a local artist. Even if you don’t understand the words, you’ll love her voice – it’s so clear and so polished.
She was my mum’s age and I was very proud of my decision not to get some bland music my classmates liked. It didn’t make me popular but I listened the shit out of that cassette! (Oh yeah, I had an actual Walkman!)
Q4: What was the latest music you purchased? (No online streaming or free downloads, I’m talking about cash here!)
I mentioned before that I’m barely surviving on my mobile data which is way too expensive in Spain for my liking. So I haven’t bought a lot of music recently but for many reasons I couldn’t pass by the EP that accompanies a book series about a teenage band. (It’s an awesome concept, read more about it here, on my other blog.)
Q5: Which song did you listen to last? (No cheating, come out with the dirty pleasures!)
I have dirty pleasures from Britney Spears to Lady Gaga but I actually listened to Walking On Cars the last, simply because it’s one of the few bands that were allowed to stay on my phone. (Storage issues… sigh…)
I’m still just discovering all the great bloggers out there but I can assure you, you won’t regret checking out the 5 below.
First, I’d like to share Rebecca’s blog. I’ve discovered her on twitter where she supports great indie bands with a lovely enthusiasm. And as myself being partial to Irish music, I enjoyed her interview with Eoin Glackin a lot. Follow her on twitter, too, she’s a hoot.
Mary’s Jingle Jangle Jungle is full of great stories of bands and songs, if you’re interested in music from the 60’s and 70’s, she’s loads if info about it! I especially enjoy her Battle of the Bands where she’s bringing great versions of already good songs.
And if we’re at the Battle of the Bands, which is Stephen’s brainchild, you’d better check him, too. Stephen has a great style and it’s a pleasure to read his posts.
Katya is an equally good read, and we have very similar taste which is always a plus 🙂 I especially enjoyed her SafetySuit concert review, had a great personal touch and an engaging style.
I simply love EQ music blog. They bring a lot of new music, like X&Y to my attention with classic journalistic review.
That’s my five for this week, but I’d like to give a special shoutout to the Love Is In Da Blog challenge by Bee whose idea inspired me to connect to the blogosphere better and who introduced me to many lovely bloggers in a number of topics. Thank you Bee for this month’s challenge, your visits and all your hard work!
Hope you’ll enjoy these bloggers as much as I did and watch out for the next #MWA instalment next Friday.
Thanks for taking part in “Love Is In da Blog”. I have been to Hungary a very, very long time ago I think it might have been 1984 or 1985. We went to the Balaton Lake and I really enjoyed being there even though being a communist country was a little scary. Thanks for sharing your memories.

Ah, Balaton, our little ocean lol. We used to call it the Hungarian Sea because there is no proper sea in Hungary, just the big lake 😉

Indeed it is huge but I bet it is totally different to how it was then. I remember those fried flatbreads as entirely delicious. The Hairy Bikers visited Hungary and they showed them on TV here and I just wanted to run and get some LOL

I don’t live in Hungary any more so I haven’t actually been to Balaton for 10 years or so! Wow, that’s a long time lol. And yes, those flatbreads, lángos, are absolutely amazing, haven’t had those in probably like 20 years! 🙈

Hi, Hello, Howdy, MISS ANDI ~
I thank you for nominating me for the ‘Music & Words Award’. I can’t think of a more deserving person! (Ha! ;o)
Really, thanks for the kind words and the award.
I also want to thank the Academy, and the people who make me shine: My hairdresser, my tailor, and especially my makeup artist, Maxine Factor. My agent’s OK, too.
I’m planning to write about this and incorporate it all (Questions, Nominations, etc.) into my next ‘BATTLE OF THE BANDS’ blog bit which will appear on my blog Tuesday, March 1st. So, I guess you’ll need to return to see how I answer and who I nominate.
Thanks again. And by the way, since you love music so much, if you ever want to join the bi-monthly blogfest ‘Battle Of The Bands’, you are certainly welcome. It’s open to everyone. Just let me know of your intention, I can answer any questions you have and will link your blog to mine so people know you’re “in”. Sumpin’ you can give some thought to.
I hope to see you at my joint during the week of March 1st. Got a great song lined up for ‘BOTB’.

Dude.. My battle is posting on the 29th.. and my award acceptance and nominations are scheduled to post on the 2nd. Looking forward to another epic week!
Andi.. You should definitely join us for the battles. They are a lot of fun! And I usually learn a lot about music, and other bloggers tastes in music, from these battles.

Lol Stephen, I think that’s the best acceptance speech in the history of #MWA 😉I’ll definitely go and check your recommendations on Tuesday!
Thank you for the invitation, I’d love to join the battles but I’m having a bit of a data issue, as in I only have very dear data on my phone 😕 so I can’t watch videos or stream music (unless I absolutely have to which does happen lol). Hopefully it’ll be sorted soon though! Thanks again for accepting the award 😊

I’ve been doing the BOTB with my earliest blog buddy Stephen T McCarthy and “Faraway Eyes” since the inception of the blog event. Most of my posting now relates to BOTB, but I’ve always focused heavily on music on my blogs.
Like you, music is so important to me–it’s the aural equivalent of the blood coursing through my body or the oxygen that I breathe. Due to the finances of retirement I don’t buy much music at all anymore–very, very little. I can’t recall offhand what the last thing I bought was.
The last song I listened to prior coming to your page was Leonard Cohen’s “The Future” which is the song I’m using in my current BOTB post..
Nice to find your blog.
