Parroting isn’t love

I’d like to share a poem with you today from my old selection. I often think of poems as photographs of that moment’s emotions and they can always take me back to how I felt. This one was born in a moment of annoyance about people who always agree…

***

You’re more than a bird
Don’t just fly
Feel it
Don’t repeat the words
Challenge their
Meaning

You’re not a mere mirror
You’re the light
Itself
Don’t just adore her
Help her break
That shelf

Your king can be naked
Not knowing
Himself
Tell him to face it
Your nod won’t
Help

Love isn’t all yeses
I’ll show you
More
Debating with kisses
Will help us
Grow

PS: I can’t seem to locate the source of that parrot image, it’s pretty cool though, isn’t it?

About Miss Andi

Learning to be unapologetically me but healthier. Shamelessly personifying my dog, Mia, who is my soulmate, though doesn't let me read as much as I used to. One day I'll finish a novel that will not save the world - but might make it smile.
